Minnesota is not one pest market. The older bungalows and multi-family housing of Minneapolis and St. Paul deal with mice, cockroaches, and bed bugs in connected units. The lake-dotted western suburbs, from Minnetonka to Prior Lake, fight heavy mosquito pressure off all that water. Outstate, the corn and soybean harvest pushes mice into homes around Rochester, St. Cloud, and Mankato every fall, and the Red River Valley around Moorhead carries some of the worst mosquito pressure in the state. What ties almost every city together is the fall: when the cold sets in, mice push hard into heated buildings, and box elder bugs and lady beetles mass on south-facing walls.
